The Star is the Pub of Choice for me. The warm welcome, friendly, efficient and courteous service, and the very high standard of operation makes it without doubt one of the finest pubs in the area. Visited on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Food ordered at 1308, starters arrived pretty promptly, but main courses didn't arrive 1355. Food was ok, but steak and ale pie was fairly dry. Got the impression that they had forgotten our order!? Soft drinks over priced, £2.40 for a large coke!! Staff were very friendly, but was quite disappointed especially having read such great reviews.[Report for Removal] Laurie Powell

Petworth? A lovely town, but closed on Sundays except for The Star. A lovely town centre Fullers pub serving great food and Gales ales, with a friendly atmosphere, sports on TV, and an outside garden for smokers (and non-smokers). My wife and I had a great Sunday lunch -- traditional roast if you want it but plenty of choice on the menu -- with good service and welcoming staff, and at a great price. Had a fantastic Sunday lunch, it's very rare to get a good 'home' cooked Sunday dinner anywhere these days. After a lovely walk in Petworth park, The Star was warm and inviting. I wish I had a local like this nearby.[Report for Removal] Lucy C

Been to the Star and not had this much fun in ages. A great range of beers of which I sampled them all. The food in the restaraunt is excellent also. All the staff are very welcoming. This is a lovely little pub right in the centre of Market Square in pretty town. Hospitality was very warm and really enjoyed the food too. We thought the local drinkers were friendly and made you feel at home. Popped in on the Saturday night too and enjoyed the live music..will definately go again.[Report for Removal] ROY BELLHOUSE
