I have been visiting this delightful pub perhaps two or three times a year since I lived in the area thirty-four years ago, when I was a regular. It has kept pace well with one's increasing expectations of remote rural pubs and certainly deserves success in its latest metamorphosis. The quaint exterior which doesn't seem to have changed as long as I've known it conceals a very tasteful modern "gastropub" interior which nevertheless retains the traditional little bar I used to drink "diesel" in thirty-odd years ago. The food is seriously good and an ambitious-looking menu does not disappoint. We had superb tiger prawns in a very sophisticated sauce, followed by, respectively, sea bass - with a very interesting bubble-and-squeak rosti - and calves liver. All perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. An excellent House white was a very reasonable £14 a bottle. And we enjoyed the "chef's selection" of mini-puddings for two to share - what a good idea.[Report for Removal] Derek V Hopes
