Having been brought up in the village I thought that it may be an idea to visit The Rainbow whilst spending Christmas with my family who still reside in the village. Wrong call - I was told I couldn't get served as I didn't have a wristband. After offering to buy one ('they've all been sold')and pointing out that the place was largely empty (Xmas Eve) they stuck to their petty rule. In addition they also refused to serve two other people who'd already been drinking there as it was now 7.30pm when the wristband rule came into force. If any other potential customers wish to avoid falling foul of similar 'rules' I'd suggest The Anchor - they were only to happy to serve me. [Report for Removal] Andy

Since Paul & Keith became the new managers the Pub has gone from Poor to Very Good. The Pub Grub is now excellent and a fair price which everyone can afford. Can't fault the beer, well kept, real ales and Lager. Entertainment every Saturday, Quiz night (Tuesdays) Curry night (Wednesday)and the Monday Club serving ALL Beers for £2-50 and Double Spirits £2-00. Also a good Pool Table.[Report for Removal] Peter Robbins

The Rainbow Inn, Coven cannot be recommended for food any longer. it used to be OK but something has happened to change that drastically. Even though we were hungry it was almost inedible. [Report for Removal] S Price

4th June2009 Quality was at the expense of quantity. Our food seemed stale, dry and lacking in any kind of sauce and drowned in potatoes. It would seem that you have relied on bought in food instead if creating your own. Service was fine and when asked by waitress if we had enjoyed the food we made clear our views on the poor quality compared with other pub meals we have enjoyed. Sadly we won't be recommending your food. [Report for Removal] hurman

We first visited this pub when collecting goods we had purchased on Ebay, I had Sunday Lunch and my husband had the Polish special both excellent. We returned yesterday (Easter Sunday) the pub and restaurant was very busy with a christening and easter trade so the food was a long time in arriving, but well worth the wait. Lamb on a skewer and the Salmon special cooked to perfection, really tasty and innovative menu.Having lived in France for the past few years you learn that good food takes time to prepare. Will visit again as the whole menu is really interesting, none of the usual pub food. Childrens menu shows imagination for children who eat real food. It is a two hour drive from our home in Lincolnshire so good day out to take in Iron Bridge etc. [Report for Removal] Mr & Mrs Tony Baker

I recently went to the Rainbow pub in coven for a 40th birthday there were 8 of us we were greeted warmly and quickly taken to our seats, we all ordered starters i had garlic mushrooms to start and they were enjoyable we all enjoyed our starters, for my main course i had poachers chicken which was chicken wrapped in bacon topped with bbq sauce and cheese, cheesy mash and a selection of vegetables i really enjoyed this and would reccomend this i didn't have a pudding as i had no room but afew people in our party did, my only complaint was a few of the puddings were sold out but it was late so it was to be expected other then that we had a great night and i thought it really reasonable and would definatley go back.[Report for Removal] Joanne

I took my friend to the Rainbow Inn as I had heard it was lovely. I pre-booked as I thought it might be busy on Sunday. We walked in and a member of staff was sat on a bar stool at the entrance talking to someone I assume they might have been customers. We walked to the bar and stood for someone to come and ask us what we would like. The same girl we had walked past came up and I said we had booked she said sit anywhere. As we were the only diners at the time we selected a table and sat down. After sitting for some time we wondered if we had to go to the bar and order. I got up and went to the bar and asked if we have to order here or at the tables. I was told I can come to the table if you like. I proceeded to order since we had selected our choice. The food was ok not brilliant. The veg was old and the new potatoes not fresh. It came fairly quickly and was hot. When we had finished the waitress took our plates and asked if everything was ok. We never saw another person again. We waited to be asked for sweets or coffee's nothing and when we finally decided we couldn't be bothered we got up to pay the bill. The service was the worst I have ever encountered when in the whole resturant there were two tables dining. (the other table sat after us). The place was very pleasantly furnished and set out well but I very much doubt will stay in business. I would not reccommend anyone to visit.[Report for Removal] Felicia Walker
