| Five to six years ago this was favourite London pub, quaint and full of character. There are some interesting objects, posters, photos (including a young Dirk Bogarde) and even a cat that wears a ruff. However over the last few years the landlady seems to have lost the plot in a haze of alcohol, tobacco and calories. She looks quite attractive in a photograph taken in the 60s but is no Johanna Lumley! In parallel with this a number of the staff have become quite arrogant. They will happily serve people who arrived after you before you. But worse than this I have seen them pull people up on their English and tell them that beer that is visibly off is fine. They are, however, polite to the wealthy local legal eagles and this is what keeps them going. Not being a fan of bad attitude and rudeness I now give it a miss although I pop in every nine months, or so, in the hope that things might change!*?[Report for Removal] | David P Dedham Essex |
