| Although a fairly decent pub, average as the rating suggests, We visited whilst on holiday in Cornwall this week and have to say that we felt we were treated very badly. Before we went in we checked if it would be ok to bring in a dog and 2 children (age 5) we were told it was fine and to sit in the window seat around the corner overlooking the sea. All started well and we had 2 drinks before a bar maid came over a put a reserved sign on our table without saying a word. We were a bit puzzled as we had been told to sit there in the first place and as she walked away we looked at the sign to see it said reserved for 6:30pm (it was 5:45pm when she put the sign down on our table) At 6:15pm the bar maid came over and just simply said 'you will have to move now, the booking for this table is here' shocked at just how rude the staff were we picked up our drinks and moved to the next table, unaware that the pub would start serving food and walking through a doorway next to our table. We had a dog and 2 children with us and therefore surely they would of been better off asking us to politely move around the corner where we would have been more comfortable and of course out of there way. The last thing we wanted was to be under their feet!! within 5 mins of sitting on our second table a waitress/barmaid came through with some food and again very rudely said 'you will have to move, the children and dog are in the way!' my 5 year old son had also just been to the toilet and was on his way back when a male member of staff said to him 'out the way you little s**t!' we didn't wish to make a fuss and just wanted to finish our drinks so moved again to the other side of the pub. We didn't plan on staying more than about another 5 mins we just wanted to finish our drinks and leave. Sadly though the landlord of the pub then shouted at my 5 year old when he went to look at the fruit machine - obviously not with any money!! just attracted by the flashing lights, and not even 2 feet away from where we were sat. 'Oi, get away from that, go on, move it!' he was abruptly told. So the moral of this story is we all believed that this pub didn't welcome children and dogs at all. Our children were not loud or dispruptive, and the dog only moved when we told him to. We had planned to eat here but after everything that had happened we decided they only wanted our money and were not interested in giving a warm cornish welcome at all. We also felt that if we tried to give any constructive feedback it would not have been well received and we have therefore decided a review on here would be better.[Report for Removal] | Kate Ellis Bristol Avon |
