Went to the Church House Inn yesterday for a bite to eat and sadly came away very disappointed. Hadn't been here for a few years as the last time I went I thought it pretentious and overpriced so I thought I would give it another go. The menu was limited to 4/5 choices in each course with the main course being the usual roasts with a couple of other choices. This wasn't so bad , at least you didn't waste their time and precious few tables by taking ages to choose! I had a beef roast which was only luke warm. Two small slices of beef which I don't think they would actually be able to slice any thinner if they tried! A small dish of vegetables which to be frank I could have eaten on my own leave alone share between two. Huge yorkshire pud which I guess was a gize to fill the enormous plate cheaply. On top of that the atmosphere (if there was one) was dictated by the owner who was constantly moving about the place in an attempt to keep things moving along creating a very un-relaxed atmosphere. £9.95 for the one course, not worth it in my opinion. I shan't be revisiting.[Report for Removal] A Bally

We were recommended to eat here by a competitor and found it to be really nice and welcoming. The landlady was very charming and the waitress really nice. Some of the meals may seem expensive at first look but you get what you pay for.If you want Wetherspoons type food this ain't the place for you.[Report for Removal] Sid Coles

Anthony and Nicky came to the Church House Inn as new landlords at the end of 2009 and have certainly got the place buzzing! There is a great atmosphere and fantastic food - it's good to have a local village pub that is so popular. Part of the reason we bought a house in the village was the pub - so we are delighted it is such a success. Anthony keeps a good cellar including excellent local ales. The meals are always first rate with daily specials boards and lots of choice. They are served up quickly and we think they are really good value. The Sunday lunches are brilliant - but be warned, if you want to eat there, its advisable to book! Ed and Christine[Report for Removal] Christine Napthine

I think this is the best pub to eat in within the torbay/teignbridge area. The food is delicious and the new chef appears to have everything under his belt. The lovely 'real village pub' warm atmosphere makes you feel right at home, and I hope everything continues in the same direction. Went there for sunday lunch a week ago and was great value for money. A definite must go pub.[Report for Removal] P. I. Staker

Disappointed, heard good reports, the droning folk music made us want to finish our meal as soon as possible. Landlord is very fond of his own voice, and the landlady not very welcoming. Food appears to have gone down hill too, but prices appear to have risen! One good point, they still have the lovely little waitress, Naomi, a real asset to the place![Report for Removal] Melanie Mullins

Passed this pub by accident on a walking holiday. "Lunch I said" The food here was georgeous and the staff more than friendly. If you have the chance try their "Celeriac & Sweet Potato Soup" It knocked my boots off ! Excellent.[Report for Removal] Keith Hawken

This place is soaring now. They have new chefs and the menu has changed and is now one of, if not the best places to eat in the teignbridge/torbay area. We go almost 3 times a week. Give it a go. Beautiful Place to go for a pub walk. [Report for Removal] Sarah Jenkinson

Outr first visit since the change of hands and what a disappointment. The food was overpriced and some was not of good quality. I had whitebait as a starter and it came as thin slices of apparently pre-prepared fish in a batter. It did not resemble whitebait, nor had the taste or texture. The soup was of a far too thick consistency. The main courses were overpriced and we did not try the desserts. Not a pub we would return to under the present kitchen regime.
