| Arrived on a cold Sunday at 13.35 following a muddy walk. Took off boots outside opposite sign saying food served until 13.45. Came to bar before 13.40 to be told by landlord 'are you wanting food, because we stop serving at 13.30. Could do a ploughmans if you order immediately'. Clock on wall a whole 10 min fast! Apparently they stop serving at 13.30 because 'it's quiet on a Sunday' Now we know why! Do youselves a favour - Pines Cafe nearby was very friendly and did warm food all day. Rising Sun in West Bagborough packed (but too far to walk in time for lunch). | The pub suggests a warm welcome, but on arriving one lunchtime with my family after a walk in the Quantocks we were turned away because of my 4 year old daughter. Interestingly there were only 2 other customers in the pub despite it being lunchtime on a lovely sunny day in the Easter Holidays! The nearby Swan at Kingston St Mary was by comparison very welcoming providing excellent freshly prepared food which was also very good value. It was not a suprise to find that The Swan was a lot busier with a warm and friendly atmosphere![Report for Removal] | D Day Fareham Hants |
