Came on recommendation and found real fires, well-kept ales and wonderful food. Having finished lunch we popped down to the public bar which was an absolute joy - friendly locals engaged in superb banter with the landlord. Clearly a place where people enjoy themselves. The locals tell me that this has the best guinness and carling anywhere locally although I stuck to the real ales. Exactly what I expected from a real country pub![Report for Removal] Paul Lupton

Sunday lunchtime 23/7/06. I had the roast beef, my partner had the steak. My roast beef, broccoli & carrots were lovely, cooked to perfection. The potatoes were overcooked, roasted for so long that they were beyond crispy.. just rock hard. What were new potatoes had turned into roasters too. Great yorkshire pudding but the instant gravy made me chuckle. £7-50... Not overly impressed. My partner had the Prime Shropshire Sirloin at £13-95. Shallow fried! Served with bagged salad and a good huge manly portion of chips. Asked for a well done steak, it was pink in the middle. No onion rings, no mushrooms, no peas,..just the meat, a grabful of salad and the chips. He ate the chips & salad, but left half the steak. First time I've seen him do that in 12 years. They could do with a fly net over the veranda door...diners were besieged by flies. Bar staff were fabulous. Efficient & very willing and friendly. Windows could of done with a clean. 1 pint of Guinness & a glass of dry white was the best bit of our lunch out. Deena[Report for Removal] Deena
