| We are a local office close to Shrewsbury and chose The Beaten Track for our Christmas "do". It was the worst meal ever. We waited over half an hour to get served and only then got served because we asked at the bar if they had forgotten us. We were in a refurbished back room. No Christmas atmosphere. No music. When asked if we could have music they piped the music from the bar through to the room. Inappropriate rabble. When they eventually started serving us it turned out to be one woman who served us two plates at a time (there were 18 of us)and the same woman to clear the plates away. the meals arrived. There was a half hour gap between the starter and the main course. The main meal arrived. The lentil dish was burnt to a cinder underneath and could not be eaten. The vegetables (sprouts and carrots) were complete mush and overcooked and salty. The portions were extremely small. The new potatoes were the size of maltezers. The roasted parsnips were overdone and hard as a rock. The sweets arrived 15 minutes after the meal. The cheesecake was obviously mass produced and tasted disgusting. the profiteroles looked liked round balls of mud, did not even resemble profiteroles. We were never asked if we needed more drinks. We had to get our own from the bar. Nobody came to ask us if our meals were okay. Just one woman to serve and clear away and her face was miserable. No one offered us coffee. Another party nearby complained at the end of their meal and were "booted" out of the place without paying for their meal. We really should have done the same but really after three and a half hours of dreadful service and food we just wanted to get out of the place. We would certainly not recommend it to anyone. | This venue has now "grown up" from being a kiddies play area/pub to being a smart eatery/restaurant. An excellent choice of food and good value for money. No negative comments.[Report for Removal] | Mrs R Jones Shrewsbury Shropshire |
