| My wife and I decided to drop in to the Three Crowns for lunch. She was off to Stone and I had work in Aston. Seemed a good place to stop. Wrong ! We were in a bit of a hurry so we ordered off the Daily Specials menu thinking that it would be fairly quick delivery and good food that the chef prepared well on a regular basis. Wrong again. I ordered the goat cheese and chestnut Wellington with buttered potatoes and greens, which turned out to be some sort of smashed pastry mess with cashew nuts instead of chestnuts . Not good, as I could well have been allergic to cashews. The potatoes looked like left-overs – no butter – and the greens, well what can I say politely? NOTHING. For some reason the Wellington came with a Yorkshire pudding on top, presumably to hide the mess and burnt cheese underneath. My wife ordered the Salmon with prawn and lemon risotto. No risotto, so it came with mashed potato, a tomato sauce – no doubt a refugee from an Italian dish - and two asparagus the size of tree trunks which were barely cooked. NOT a good meal. If anybody is thinking of stopping for lunch at the Three Crowns I would suggest thinking again. [Report for Removal] | M Robertson Rugeley Staffs |

| My family visisted the Three Crowns on Fathers Day 2008 on recommendation from a friend. From the outside, very picturesque, pretty and homely looking and ample parking facilities. When we walked in, given that it is an extremely old pub, I was taken aback by how dingy and dirty it appeared. We proceeded to the bar and ordered drinks and took them round to a table. Plenty of empty tables (I wonder why?) When I sat down, I began to look around and noticed how filthy the place actually was. Granted, that the pub is Olde Worlde, but there was NO EXCUSE for the splattered food stains up the walls and the dirty knives and forks sitting in a pot on the table (for any Tom Dick or Harry to touch!) Wobbly tables, which the serviettes served a purpose for! And the waitress stood buy while we tried to eat the unpleasant food. We ordered a beef dinner, and we were informed that there was no beef, so we chose turkey as a 2nd option. A yorkshire pudding and two slices of turkey with two pieces of stuffing the size of a 1p piece (literally) was put on the table followed by a dish of vegetables. Potatoes boiled (I think) to death, the carrots were out of a packet, the sugar snaps had no taste and the honey roast parsnips - well, I nearly broke my teeth on them! Then, when my husband went outside for a cigarette, he overheard two chefs talking about 1 week old asparagus which he was saving because it cost them a fortune to buy in!!! That did it for me, we were off! Never again will we eat in that place. It was just like a beer fest with stone floors and wobbly, chipped, dirty wooden tables to eat off. A good lick of paint, and a dousing of disinfectant is what that place needs. And the waitroses need to stop hanging around your tables. My recommdation is ... Dont go!
