Sunday lunch at The Kings Head was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Greeted by the jovial Landlord, we were made to feel welcome. Although the menu is not extensive, there was a very good choice. Mrs D, and Mrs W, both had pies, and both rated them as excellent. Mr W had the beef, and ate more than his fair share of the beautifully prepared vegetables! Mr D experimented with the skate wing, and enjoyed it immensely. Everyone thought that the roast potatoes were as good as their mothers!! No mean feat for pub food. Puddings were fabulous, both to taste and to look at. Price wise - not the cheapest, but worth the money. We highly recommend this fine hostelry. A quiet country pub with a friendly atmosphere and curteous staff who provided a lovely meal at a sensible price. this is a pub! not a restuarant or a cafe. The quality of food and price reflect this.Food i enjoy and real ales all provided from local breweries and suppliers have made this one of my favorite places to keep visiting around this new forest area that i adore. you can keep the big chains of pubs flogging cheap food all with chips or pre cooked and microwaved to tasteless fools. this is what i look for in a pub. superb!P.S. Try the steak and ale pie.[Report for Removal] john sanderson

Was suprised at other reviews, so wanted to put forward our very pleasant experience at the Kings Head last summer. Stopped in after a walk in the forest and found the staff of this charming little village pub to be very friendly. The food was very nice, and not too expensive. Not your usual pub grub that most pub chains seem to promote, but something different, home cooked and we were told with produce from the local farms, we will go back and would recommend others to try it.[Report for Removal] Roy Short

I have been going to this pub off and on for years and have had a variety of experiences but never anything like the previous reviewers. It's a charming tucked away pub. Local customers. The beer is always well kept and a reasonable variety. Under the current owners the food menu is simple and unfussy with at fair prices and helpings that are always at least sufficient if not generous. [Report for Removal] Mrs E. Donald
