Having lived in Shrivenham for a few years the Barrington or the BA as it is referred to has had many years of neglect, and mis-management, which has lead to it having a poor reputation. There was no real choice of a decent public house to use. But if now seems all of this is behind it with new managers and new owners. There has been a clean up inside, with further refurbishment planned now that it is no longer tied to a brewery, so I was told by the friendly landlord. They have a good selection of real ales, priced at the average £3 at pint, which is cheaper than the villages other pub. There is good selection of home cooked food, at very good prices, and cater for all the family. I love the fact that the lasagne is made and cooked when you order it, rather than being put in a microwave. Will be going back there again.[Report for Removal] Martin Rake

What can I say about the Barrington Arms except for it has been recently taken over and operated by a chap named John and his partner Ann.( the last name escapes me at the moment)As it is just starting under new management we excused the lack of patronage but could not understand why that with such a large and beautiful building the 'renovation' looked to be done by the cheapest means and the finish was as though the builders/designers walked off the job due to lack of pay. Our second visit was much the same although not only was the selection of drink over priced the manager appeared to have consumed a large portion of the stock. Being friendly and accommodating to visitors is one thing but being overbearing and telling VERY blue jokes isn't what makes an enjoyable evening. Being we do not like to judge a place the first time around we made a third trip over the bank holiday weekend of August 2009. There were flyer's and an announcement on a radio station that there was to be a terrific gathering with live music and other events so we made our way down and once again with family and friends that live in the immediate area and found it to be very disappointing to say the least. We didn't bother to even ask if food was available due to the cleanliness or lack there of. After a short stay our party swiftly exited in search of a place that cares more about it's patrons and not a fiddle. [Report for Removal] Love to Explore
