| A nicely refurbished country pub (July 09) with a gastro-pub feel about it. Nice real ales on offer, with a good selection of wines, but drinks are possibly a tad on the pricey side. The menu offers most of what you would expect from this type of establishment, albeit again a little bit pricey compared to the local market. The pub seems to cater for middle class locals of all ages, and is generally full at weekends. The main bar could do with some tweeking to make it a bit more 'welcoming'. It seems a bit spartan, perhaps to accommodate a busy rush at the bar? A nice rug and some greenery would help finish dressing it. Regretably, there is the 'compulsory' large screen TV mounted on the wall by the bar - "WHY?". No one even looks at it, and as ever - it is permanently tuned into sport (with subtitles). The customer base is middle class professionals/couples who are there to eat and meet up, they don't want a 'sports bar'. My advice, get rid of the TV. All in all, really worth a visit, it just needs 'tweeking'. The garden could do with some more work to make it more homely, it currently looks like a paddock with benches, overlooking a large car par.
