| We visited The Village Inn, Liddington on a Thursday lunchtime. It's an Arkells pub that advertises "Locally sourced, genuine home-cooked pub food". There were four of us and we ordered steak & ale pie with mash and veg, 6oz rump steak with chips and peas, and two "Plato de Gambos". The meals arrived in a reasonable timeframe. Three of the meals deserve mention and unfortunatley not positive. The steak was rare as ordered but charred on the outside, the chips were cooked from frozen. The Plato de Gambas was advertised as crayfish tails, prawns, squid and white fish in a tomato and basil sauce, served with rice - what arrived was something that looked like overcooked ratatouile on a bed of rice. Further investigation of my portion revealed a small amount of prawns, a crayfish tail, a couple of pieces of squid ring and a small piece of white fish. The other plate had slightly more squid and several pieces of meat, possibly chicken! The vegetables were mushy and tasteless, the squid like rubber and the prawns like bullets. We returned these meals to the bar as they were inedible and was asked to return to our table. A member of staff came over and offered us alternative meals, we opted for cheese and biscuits. The cheese was good and came a selection of crackers and butter. Sometime after leaving the pub, the two diners who had the returned meals got upset tummies. We reported this to the pub, so they could address any issues. We were informed that these meals had been bought in and were frozen! [Report for Removal] | David Upper Chute Wiltshire |

| We had my Mums wake(Joy Higgins), following the funeral, on Tuesday 30th November 2010 at the side/rear of the Pub. The Staff and Management were excellent and very helpful and efficient. The food was very good and suited to all who came. They catered for over 50 people at a very reasonable rate and I have to say that all aspects of the afternoon went without a hitch. Very well done to all concerned and a big thank you. [Report for Removal] | N Thompson Swindon Wiltshire |

| We visited the village inn on Saturday 30th January and have to say we were most dissapointed with the meal. I ordered garlic bread to start with and when it arrived it was a couple of crusts off a sliced loaf and hardly tasted of garlic. I then went on to order the 'Liddington Smokie' which is a dish with smoked haddock and prawns in a creamy sauce topped with cheese. How far from the truth could that be, not much fish at all in it, the cheese on the top wasnt too bad but the sauce was a very watery grey colour and tasted foul. This was served with new potatoes which were nice but the cabbage, carrots and peas must have been cooked a couple of days ago and warmed up in the microwave. I then went on to have ice cream sundae - well what a dissapointment this was, two scoops of ice cream topped with cheap squirty cream with a cherry and hundreds and thousands on it, bit steep at 4.95 I would say. I wont be visiting again in a hurry, not until they get a new chef at least. I wouldnt serve that muck up at home.[Report for Removal] | Mandy Archer Swindon Wilts |

| We (eight of us) celebrated my parents 68th Wedding Anniversay on Friday 11th Jan at The Village Inn. The food was perfect, the staff were brilliant and the atmosphere was amazing. What a lovely family run pub, we were made to feel so welcome and not just customers. We will return. Many thanks to them all. [Report for Removal] | Liz Beard Lambourn Berkshire |
