We are the proud new owners of The Manifold Inn after purchasing the business back in Aug 07. It was soon very obvious to us that there were several issues with the 'old' Manifold (as evidenced by the poor reviews). To this end, the old management team were removed and replaced by a young team of presentable, polite and enthusiatic proffessionals. We then invested heavily in the urgent upgrades of the 10 rooms with no expense spared. The refurb is now complete and the rooms are a very high standard with new bathroom suites throughout. I am saddened when I read the reviews of the 'old' Manifold and it is unfortunate that I have inherited the documented errors of the past owners. These obviously overshadow the hard work and huge changes that have taken place since we took over. To this end I have replied personally to all the unhappy customers in the review panel on this site and would invite anybody to revisit the 'new' Manifold to witness the changes and enjoy the atmosphere of a genuinely special location. NOT A DOG FRIENDLY PUB. Myself and friends went to this pub whilst on a camping holiday, staying at the pleasant campsite in the village. We were eight adults and two dogs and had contacted them in advance to check that it was OK for us to bring the dogs into the pub and they had told us that dogs were welcome. We were upset and confused when we arrived and there was a “no dogs” sign on the door, and when we queried this we were spoken to in a very rude manner and told to sit in the corner at a very small table. While we were there a group with a guide dog in training arrived but were turned away. A family with small children were also asked to go outside. I find it very difficult to understand why a pub would tell people over the phone that dogs are welcome when in fact they are not. I am also astounded at how people who choose to work with the public can have such poor people skills.[Report for Removal] Claire Fernihough

In my opinion this pub should be avoided at all costs! The staff were surly and unhelpful, the 'take out' food was fine - but took ages to arrive, no doubt a ploy to get people to buy more drinks. The 'eat in' menu was very expensive. We had also e-mailed AND telephoned to check that dogs were allowed in the pub, yet when we turned up were told that only 1 dog was allowed in and that had to be sat at the smallest table squashed up a corner in the bar - not good considering we had 2 dogs with us and 8 of us wanted to eat + drink!! It got even better when a guide dog in training (with proper identification etc) came into the pub and was promptly turned away (we did offer to leave so that they could sit down - but they were so annoyed that they left!) The pub even portrays itself as 'pet friendly' on http://www.peakdistrict-nationalpark.com/accommodation/The-Manifold-Inn.html - although given their idea of customer service perhaps they truly believe they are being friendly!! I’ve also just found them on http://www.doggiepubs.org.uk/redirect.php/37!!!!![Report for Removal] Jennifer Cook
