| I really cant see the future of the pub been long lasting, given the character of the staff. I have visited a couple of times and have not been made welcome at all by any of the staff. I wanted to order champagne on one visit but they did not stock it. I was also put off as the landlord also sells second hand cars from the premises car park. | Me & a large party of my friends & family visited the elephant & castle, & it was definatley a night to remember! we have never been before, and we will be going back again! it was my husbands birthday, and for him it was one of the best nights hes had. the staff were lovley, they were up for a good laugh, always smiling. they were probably the highlight of the night, as we all stayed and had a drink at the end! the food was delicious, the best food ive had in a long time! i really do recommened, definatley! for me, you cant beat the elephant & castle! thanks for a great night girls xxxxx[Report for Removal] | Rachel wood Barnsley south yorkshire |

| I am of the older generation, and i visited this resturant on the 29th of january 2008. When i first entered, i was greeted by a tall girl who looked very clean, tidy & proffessional.She asked me details such as; have i got a booking? what name? how many for? would i like a drink? she was very kind. i was then served drinks which were put straight on my bill so i didnt have to mess about with money. a young girl, who also looked very smart and nice, then took me to the sofas where we "chilled" as they would say, and had a drink. At 8pm, we were seated and checked out the fablous menu. much choice, even a veggie menu! i order the thai hallibut, and my husband had chicken italliano. | we enjoyed a Saturday night out with friends and being the older generation(not too old) but not into loud, music playing places where you can not talk or think. The food was excellent, the atmosphere friendly and cosy. We had a laugh and a good old natter catching up on family and friends. | A visit to the Elephant and Castle last night spoiled a very special evening out with family. I wont go into every detail however, the main problem was the timing of the service and the communication between the staff and ourselves as customers. We arrived at 7:30 for a table booked at 8:00. We were seated at 8:45, recieved starters at 9:00 and follwed by mains at 9:30! After the starters had been cleared, i was informed that my main course was not available, when the mian courses eventually arrived it was slow service and meals were not as ordered or described on the menu. It was really dissapointing, the staff just weren't cut out for the style of service they have set themselve up for. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the menu looks great. The manager even gave us alternative options before ordering, but they are setting their standards too high for what they can cope with! | This is a pub that's changed beyond recognition in the last 12 months. Conpletely refurbished and with a no smoking policy in force from 1st March 2007, this pub is geared towards the discerning diner rather than the drinker. On arrival, expect to enjoy a pre dinner drink sat around the sofa's. Staff are friendly and helpful, and thr menu's not bad either - not too fancy, but a few notches above the usual pub grub. Steaks are first class - I went for the fillet at around £13. Well situated on the Trans Pennine trail the pub would be a handy stopping off point for the passing walker/cyclist.
