| I live in Sydney, Australia and have never been to the Nettle Pub in Derbyshire although I was born in Chesterfield. My very good friends Paul and Denise Godley eat there often and the next time I visit the UK I will dine there also. | I have eaten here many times and always enjoyed the food. But today we went with relations, the food was cold so we sent it back. When it came back it was cold again when we complained the head waitress came over with her arms crossed and said with real attitude whats the problem. | After reading Mrs Rogers' review I felt I had to add my opinion of The Nettle in order to 'balance the books'. Over a period of several years, my husband and I have enjoyed meals there, both on our own and with friends. Each time, everyone has remarked on how good the food has been. Although the vegetable portions served initially are small compared to some pubs/restaurants (saves lots of waste being returned to the kitchen), on every occasion we have been asked if it was sufficient. Any requests for more vegetables have been dealt with immediately. If you're looking for cheap pub grub piled high on your plate, this is not the place to come - but for good food, well presented, it is excellent. | We did have a wonderful Xmas 3 course dinner here, but,Wednesday night 16.01.2008 was entirely different! We were the only diners in this beautiful pub.The main course was tiny and not nice at all, veg was nearly non existant, a handful of new pots. for 2 of us (supposed to be roasted!)£12.95 each, for less than a normal starter else where !! The waitress said that was normal, we asked to see the manager but he didnt appear,after waiting quite some time we left still hungry, with a bitter taste in our mouths for the wasted money and a spoilt birthday celebration.[Report for Removal] | mrs carol rogers riddings, alfreton derbyshire |
