| right in response to Darrens review i'm the "fat barman" he was on about, i have worked in the dog and partridge now for 2 bit years and this is the lowest we have been we are really struggling as we are low on stuff and busy on custom, we do extremely apologise for this as it is not the customers fault or mine but we have to deal with it everyday that we work, you have to deal with it once every now and then and yet we still try to make it your best visit but we do struggle with this as some customers make it hard work. The situation with this Darren fella was not how he explains it to be, what actualy happened was i was quite busy and rushing about, so tried to quickly get drinks done, so as i rushed over to do a lemonade the nozzle of the post mix had come off and accidently sprayed everywhere, i had already had a really bad day and actualy tried to apologise to this fella but he straight away turned around and said " what the f*** are u doin mate, whats your f****** problem" so my first reaction was to shout back as i have a customer shouting at me over a mistake and didn't let me explain, and as i say i already had a really bad day, i can't emphasise that enough, now yes with my experience i should have gone about it a bit better but it was really the straw that broke the cammels back. And to Darren: Don't EVER say anything on an internet website something that you are not willing to say to my face, it's not fair as on this you are making me out to be a nasty person and i'm not, so if you have a problem with me sort it out on the night, not broadcast the wrong thing on the internet.[Report for Removal] | Greg Toohey Grays Essex |

| Visited this pub on 17/10/2008 for a quiet drink with 5 friends, all the Ale taps had been turned around as they had run out of everything (had even run out of wine - this is a pub!!), the staff were extremely slow and when they could be bothered to actually serve people they were extremely rude. I was sitting at a table about 10ft away from the bar and despite not even knowing me (or any of my friends) the fat barman thought it would be hillarious to squirt soda from one of the mixer taps all over my back - when I asked what the hell he thought he was playing at he decided that rather than appologise to a paying customer the best course of action would be to argue with me! Will never go back to this hole again - unless you enjoy being abused for your money I would advise steering well clear. [Report for Removal] | Darren Basildon Essex |

| we arrived at the pub at about 6.30pm and found a table we were a party of 7 out to celebrate my wifes 50th birthday on saturday 26.04.2008 4 of us were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive i bought drinks and a bottle of wine cost £17 went back to the table looking through the menu then the then it was announced that all orders will be taken up untill 7.30pm the rest of our party arrived at appox 7pm we were just going to go through the menu ,then out of the blue our menus were taken away from us and told sorry you can not order any meals we are shuting the kitchen she said i am the manager it is up to me i tried to explain it was a special birthday treat for my wife the way we were treated was a disgrace she just said so we are not serveing any more meals we will never set foot in that pub again so beaware if you go to this pub there take your money for the drinks then when you go to order your meal you will be refused[Report for Removal] | roy palmer grays essex |

| We have been going to the Dog and Partridge for about 3 years now but haven't been in for a month or so until last night. Seven of us (including my 15 year old son) went in for a meal just after 7pm. AFter having to send one meal back due to it being unedible the waitress asked us, just after 8pm if we wanted a sweet which we declined. At that same time my father inlaw was at the bar getting drinks when he was told that they couldn't serve us as we had a 15 year old with us. (How come he could have stayed in and eaten a sweet?) We left very dissappointed with the service and food. I rang the manager this morning only to be very rudely told that it was company policy and that I had no right to want a drink as it was a pub and not a restaurant (why are there menu's on every table then??) I asked why the cutlery had been wrapped in what looked like toilet hand towels (Green) and he confirmed that they were because he's been busy!! He then told me that it was obvious I had only rung to complain (yep!) told me that I wasn't welcome in his pub anymore and slammed the phone down on me. Does he not realise that these days that food is what brings the customers into the pub?? Down right rudeness will not keep his tills full. Something I think he will learn very quickly. I intend on complaining to the Brewery Chain. It is a great shame as North Stifford is a lovely village and it was great to have a nice local with a good atmosphere and food but now we will have to find somewhere else to go.
