| We visited on August bank holiday 2010. There must have been 50+ people in the garden and a similar number in the saloon/indoor eating bar. Impressive numbers of substantial meals were being delivered to apparently satisfied customers. As a complimentary contrast, the public or snug bar was well populated by the locals, a couple of whom willingly engaged us in conversation with tales of the pubs history. The real ales were well presented and reasonably priced. Pork pies and whelks were on the bar for general consumption in the locals bar.
