| My review in January didn't seem to be activated, so I'm trying again. And I'm trying again because The Red House has been transformed by the new owners who took over in Nov 2008. It is now an excellent pub & restaurant which takes pride in providing high quality, locally sourced food and drink. The food is consistently good and the beer is served in a cosy bar with welcoming log fire. If you had a bad experience in The Red House in 2007/2008 or have been put off by the bad reviews then you must give it another try. | Just finished a meal in the Red House, if you're happy paying good money for poor food, I would recommend a visit. If on the other hand you like your food to be fresh and well flavoured, then I would think hard before booking a table here. The restaurant used to be an ideal place to eat, however since new management has taken over, the quality of the food has gone down but sadly the price hasn't dropped to reflect the new "happy meal" style flavour. Service was slow but with a smile, so I can forgive that. However the Lamb Risotto was more mutton with leeks and not a lot else, i looked for the rice but I didn't find it. Now for my meal of choice a 8oz Fillet steak, asked for rare and got almost well done and the sauce that accompanied it, just demonstrated that the chef was lacking taste-buds. Clearly not up to it's historic form anymore... It's a shame we use to love going there for birthdays and other special occasions. But now if I want someone to steal £70 from me, I'll just drop it in the street after all that would be less disappointing than the food in the Red House, Whitchurch Extremely disappointing and will not be visiting again[Report for Removal] | Simon Hurst Whitchurch Hampshire |
