| I booked a table for 6 people for 7pm on the 6/4/06, I later rang to ask to extend the table for 10 and asked if this would be ok. Sharon the lady who answered the phone agreed this would be ok, although her telephone manner was abrupt. On arriving we bought some drinks and was shown to our table. At 7.15 we had decided what food we were going to order and went to the bar to do so, I was kept waiting for over 20 minutes before my order was taken as priority was to customers buying drinks, I paid for the meal at a cost of £96. At 8.20 there was still no sign of our starters or the childrens meal, so I asked at the bar and was told there was a 45 minute wait, this was not told to me when I placed the order, meanwhile the children are getting hungry and tired. Eventually are starters arrived, one thai prawn had to be returned as it was creamated to the stick and crumbled when you tried to remove it, the mushroom starters was really hard. The children's meals were cold and the burgers hard. Having almost completed the starters a barman came to the table to tell us 2 meals that were ordered had sold out and could we choose again from the menu. If there were no pies left then this should have been mentioned when the order was placed. At 9.15 the main course eventually turned up, and because of the delay, the children was overtired and a member of our party had to go home sending one meal back and asked for a refund as the service was terrible, on receiving the meals none of them was edible, when we complained to Sharon she was most rude, unsympathetic telling us it was our problem for booking a table of 10. The pub was not over busy when we arrived but priority seem to be going to the smaller tables. We asked for the difference between the meals and the one sent back to be refunded, Sharon came back and put the money £13.00) on the table with a thud. No apology, not a smile or asked us if we required a pudding. We were so disgusted with the service and the food that we will not be going back to this awful place again. This is our local pub!! We were not the only people to complain that evening, there was one waitress on and 2 barman plus Sharon, as the eveing went on the pub was full, but this is no excuse for the service and the appalling food we received. If they can't cope, get more staff. This spoilt a birthday party which started out really fun, and left everyone disappointed and hacked off, and the evening was not enjoyed by anyone. I will be telling anyone who asks for a local pub in the area not to go to this one!
