| We'd heard good things about the Sun in the Wood, so we stopped by for Sunday lunch a few weekends ago. First off, the staff were very nice and the place was family friendly - serving our kids first was a nice touch. The kids food was good and portions were a reasonable size. There's an outdoor playground to amuse the kids although the ground was fairly wet and muddy due to recent rainfall. I had the Sunday Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding and it was disappointing - the meat was very tough despite being rather red and the portion was on the small side. My wife had the Chicken with Cranberry sauce and it was somewhat better but again the portion was rather small. However, the desserts were excellent - the sticky toffee pudding was awesome. Highly recommended. Now the bad news, lunch and a single drink for all of us topped £50 with tip, and I didn't feel the food was worth it which probably explained why the place was so quiet.
