| As a party of 6 we recently visited this pub for a meal ( July 2010). Our table was booked for 8pm but was still occupied when we arrived, we finally sat at our table with drinks that we had ordered at the bar. We waited for some time for our order to be taken approximately 25 minutes. only two of our party ordered a starter which arrived at 9.30pm, the starters were quite tasty and whetted our appetite for the main course. Our main meal was not served until 10.15pm by which time we were all past the really hungry stage. the food arrived which was not 'home cooked' as expected. the new potatoes were microwaved ( they had that twice cooked taste) the steak was served rare when it was requested medium. the chips were cooked from frozen and particularly hard. At this point we asked to see management, the landlord arrived explaining that he was working elsewhere and blamed his chef for the late meals. he asked what we wanted - we asked for an apology and why we had not been informed there was a problem earlier in the evening. A very insincere apology was made. He then asked what was wrong with the meal, he was told we thought it was sub standard at which point he whipped away our plates. This landlord is rude and his staff did not communicate with us. we paid only for our drinks and left the pub as it was quite clear the landlord was aggrieved by our complaint. We understand that we were not the only table to complain. We visit this area every year and this year one of our party was celebrating their 50th birthday. Needless to say we will never visit this place again. Substandard food served 2 1/2 hours after we arrived.[Report for Removal] | L Hyndman Chesterfield Derbyshire |
