Had heard that this place had improved but sadly it seems not. A group of us visited today for an afternoon drink at the end of a cycle ride. Very unfriendly to families - landlady rude and very local with it. There are far better places in the local area and anyone wanting anything resembling a friendly welcome might be better of trying there.[Report for Removal] Matthew

Having visited this place on several occasions and noted the the overpricing and the unfriendly and downright offensive manner of several of the 'locals' together with their advanced snobbery I won't be returning and warn others to beware.[Report for Removal] discerning drinker

A nasty pub with nasty little people is the most fitting description of this place. Its customers are pompous and pretentious and the artificially 'refained' accents many of them put on are highly unattractive, as are the openly racist opinions loudly voiced by certain locals' who like to shout about 'sooties' and barge other customers out of their way. The food and accommodation are overpriced, and it is certainly not friendly, being dominated by a clique. The bar feels claustrophobic, and the furniture is better consigned to a skip.[Report for Removal] pubman

Lovely building, nice sunny garden, superb range of ales kept in perfect condition. Good selection of wines and two proper ciders. Food is also excellent as is service and a friendly welcome. This is the current CAMRA pub of the area and I wholeheartedly agree with their choice.[Report for Removal] Tim Abel

Great food and a wonderful inn - ruined by lack of sleep caused by a nearby house's trance music soundtrack which played (incredibly loudly!) from 10.30pm until 11.00am the following day. Despite the proprietors knowing the party was happening, no warning was given at the time of booking and the only gesture of goodwill was a similarly disrupted room. If you do decide to go, ring ahead to make sure that there will be no parties nearby.[Report for Removal] David Brown
