| Well, I have been back. My congratulations to the new licencees and staff. This pub is 200 per cent better and deserves its success. I hope you go from strength to strength, Old Friary, and I look forward to sending people to you for food and drink. Merry Christmas - Doubles all round![Report for Removal] | Ralph Mendoza Plymouth Devon |

| I UNDERSTAND THAT THE OLD FRIARY INN IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. I WENT TO THE OLD FRIARY INN TWO YEARS AGO AND THATS WHEN IT WAS TERRIBLE. I THEN RE-VISITED LAST WEEK AND IT WAS BRILLIANT THE FOOD WAS GREAT, I GOT A WARM WELCOME FROM THE STAFF THERE AND THE LIVE MUSIC WAS REALLY GOOD ASWELL... BUT BEST OF ALL THE ALCHOHOL WAS GREAT IF YOUVE NEVER TRIED A TERMINATOR TRY ONE AT THE OLD FRIARY INN THEY DO THE BEST IN TOWN.....[Report for Removal] | smeg head plymouth devon |

| I re-visited this pub last week. There has been no improvement, the same people are still 'running' the place, and I discovered that the entry made by 'Roxanne' on this site was written by one of the manageress's friends at her behest. What a joke! Sorry, Old Friary, but the game (and your time) is up. Anyone wishing to contact me about this or any other pub, please email me at surrey.pubwatch@googlemail.com [Report for Removal] | Dean Riches Dorking Surrey |

| Simply the worst. Your reviewers are spot on with their assessments of this doghouse, and the sooner we get a new broom the better.[Report for Removal] | Oliver Kingston Plymouth Devonshire |

| WHY DON'T THEY JUST PULL THIS PLACE DOWN, BURY THE MANAGERS BENEATH THE RUBBLE AND START AGAIN? THE OLD FRIARY LOWERS THE TONE OF WHAT IS OTHERWISE A NICE PART OF PLYMOUTH, AND A GROUP OF US ARE SENDING A PETITION TO THE PUB COMPANY THAT OWNS THE BUILDING (AND THE BUSINESS). WATCH THIS SPACE![Report for Removal] | James Parker Epsom Surrey |

| I wasn't even going to bother to review this establishment, but the staff were so smug when I complained about my meal that I decided they deserve a few words. Ambience: Drunken rednecks (including the manager and his wife). Food: Inedible. Don't bother trying. Beer: I doubt it very much. Appearance: Brown. Suburban railway station waiting-room, circa 1959. Prices: Wouldn't go there again if they gave it away.[Report for Removal] | Linda Spencer plymouth devonshire |

| I have to agree with the other reviewers here: a drab and boring pub, with few redeeming features. The food is just grease on a plate, the bitter was sour on the night we went, and most of the customers were well past the point at which the law states they should not be served further alcohol. We won't be visiting the place again.[Report for Removal] | Roger Johnstone Totnes Devonshire |

| Foodwatch U.K. has recently revisited this pub and found it to be no better than it was on our reviewer's last visit. Clearly the managers are ignoring customers' comments and very soon they will have no customers left. We are again contacting the company that owns The Old Friary to ensure that they are aware of this website and the remarks posted on it. Let's hope they appoint a new broom and the Friary is soon brought up to the standard of the other pubs in the area. [Report for Removal] | Ralph Mendoza Exeter Devon |

| Unpleasant atmosphere, lots of drunks and foul language. Food is just fried artery-cloggers and the beer was sour (clean those pipes). I wouldn't go there twice.[Report for Removal] | Dean Riches Dorking Surrey |

| My girlfriend and I went into this pub last night, just to see if it was really as terrible as your reviewers are saying. It was - we didn't even bother to finish our drinks. Next door (almost) is the Notte Inn, and across the road are the bars, restaurants and pubs of The Barbican. Leave The Old Friary off your itinerary and head for one of them. | I agree with this pub's rating. It may not qualify as the worst pub in the West, but it does run a close second. Our Sunday lunch was dreadful: beef like a boiled mattress, potatoes the size of canoes, and overcooked veg. If Plymouth pubs want to take some of the Barbican's trade, they will have to do a lot better than this. [Report for Removal] | Alan Todd Plymouth Devon |

| This is now unquestionably the worst pub in the West. Greasy and unpalatable food, drab interior, sour beer (someone please clean those lines) and a very strange pair of managers who would much prefer to be running a private members' club - or that's certainly the impression they give. As a visitor to Plymouth I would go in preference to the Notte Inn or to any of the pubs in the Barbican. The Old Friary is simply not worth the effort. | In all my researches for Foodwatch UK I have never come across a pub as dingy, dirty and depressing as this one. Surly staff, a licensee who is thicker than molasses, and food that I wouldn't feed to my labrador. At least it is close to the Barbican, where you can find excellent food and drink.[Report for Removal] | Lachland Munn Ludlow Shropshire |

| We didn't think that any pub in Plymouth could be as bad as these reviews have suggested. Fascinated, we ventured there last night. It is run by a redneck from Devon's bumpkin belt and his very strange partner. A seedy, run-down, brown pub. Full of drunks and smells of chip fat. Thank you reviewers![Report for Removal] | Peter and Helen Plymouth Devon |

| The five stars say it all: Terrible. Writing as a licensee myself, with three pubs in Surrey, I can honestly say that if I ran this place I would hang my head in shame. Other comments are spot on.[Report for Removal] | Frank Dobson Dorking Surrey |

| I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone is poisoned here before too long. They have already received a visit from Environmental Health, and Foodwatch UK is waiting for the result. In the meantime, avoid this pub like the plague - it very well might be![Report for Removal] | Mark Peters Exeter Devon |
