| You may or may not get served in this pub,the last time we were there it was like the Marie Seleste the well known ghost ship,glasses on the counter but nobody behind it,shouted half a dozen times for service,no reply, shouted again,no reply,spooky,but determind to have a pint we persisted,at last my prayer was answered and a resonably decent pint was had. This regretably is one of these pubs that has seen better days. It's situated on the A38 trunk road between Liskeard and Bodmin leading into deepest Cornwall and only a mile or so from Trago Mills, The pub in it's hay day used to be packed and even has a over flow car park (rarley used now) now a days you (or the owners) will be lucky to see half a dozen cars parked.(4 of those are probably the staffs cars).They do however a sunday lunch which i believe increases trade for that day. I do feel very sorry for pub owners what with drink driving laws high taxes on drinks and the smoking ban it must be hard work to survive. Here in Cornwall,a low wage area, Landlords have to pull their finger out and provide good service , good ale and food to survive, as many pub owners will testify it's a very short holiday season in the summer to make enough money to survive through the long winter. I would use the Halfway more if i could just see a hint of "hello nice to see you welcome" but i've an idea "pigs might fly first". Never the less i will give the pub a average score because of the reasonable pint i had. Please Landlord don't let this pub die and become another holiday home for the rich up the liners make this pub a pub again,lets smell the beer as you walk in. | please dont waste your money at this place! i had a chicken salad and it was horrible!!! when i asked to speak to the chef he took ages to come and see me and when the did he was rude and unhelpful, the manager was awful too, she was rude and offensive to me and ive never been spoken to like that, thier food is hit and miss, massive portions and baught in sweets, dont waste your time there!!!!!!!![Report for Removal] | stacey kent liskeard cornwall |
