Re: D.Curtis comments. Being the new management we take all adverse comments seriously. I think I should point out that the Chef, Waiting Staff, Lamb Supplier, Gravy / Sauce etc was exactly as under the previous management - we have made no changes whatsoever. At approx 350 to 400 covers per week and probably 1 resulting complaint in that period we are performing reasonably well. We are, however, always trying to increase standards and take the D.Curtis comments on board. We welcome other commments (good or bad) so we can learn. My wife and I visited The Crown on Monday 17th April 2006 and, unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the food. I ordered 1/2 Shoulder of lamb for £10.95. The food arrived within about 4-5 minutes - although not necessarily a bad thing, my concerns were proved correct upon seeing the food. The lamb had been totally 'nuked', was as dry as the bone it was attached to and was physically impossible to get on the fork. I certainly did not expect to pay over £10 for 'lamb crackling'. Although the chips and vegetables were fine, the 'sauce' tasted very similar to a quick gravy (and was nothing like the tasty sauce that used to be poured over this great meal under previous management). Upon being asked if everything was okay (only at the end of the meal I hasten to add), we explained that the lamb was over-done/dried out. The waitress did not like this response and was quite rude. One has to ask if they do not like the answer, they should not have asked the question. Nevermind. On the plus side, the bitter was very good, the drive home was wonderful and the beneficiary of the 'scraps' will have had a field day! Would we go again? No way. The Crown has recently undergone a change of ownership and, from our recent experience, remains a long way off the standards previousy enjoyed there. [Report for Removal] D Curtis
