| Five of us arrived at 12noon for a pre-booked table for Sunday lunch. We waited over 30 minutes for our Starters and a further 50 minutes or more for our main course. An order of drinks did not arrive until we had chased them up twice, by which time we had finished our main course. At 2.30pm we were finally served with our desserts. The Manager was most apologetic and thanked us for our feedback, but from the look of previous reviews that would seem to make no difference. The food was excellent - the service was appalling.[Report for Removal] | Mrs Marriott Corby Northants |

| Visited on the recommendation of friends who had lunched there and been quite impressed. They obviously haven't eaten there in the evening.!!! Service was poor, the salmon fishcakes were just that - 2 fishcakes and if you want veg it's extra.. My course came 5 minutes after my wife's Pointed this out to manager whose attitude was arrogant and offensive. He took a "take it or leave it" stance and was prepared to argue with us. Have never encountered such rudeness from someone who is meant to be in the "service industry." [Report for Removal] | James Craig Northampton Northants |

| Great atmosphere, the refurbishment in excellent taste for the establishment. A very good comprehensive menu at reasonable price. My only comment is the non padded chairs, after a hour or so these tend to get very hard. Perhaps if they vere palleted with soft furnishing, it would ease the discomfort. yours eric & carole medcraft and friends Bugbrooke [Report for Removal] | Eric M medcraft Northants Northamptonshire |

| We booked a table for five for Saturday 19th October 8pm.My son was home from University for the weekend. He is 21 on Tuesday, and we wanted to treat him and the family to a birthday meal. We had to wait 20 minutes before we could sit at our prebooked table. The service was bad- we ordered drinks that didn't arrive. We had to remind the waitress and then they got the order wrong. The first course wasn't too bad, but the portions were very small. My tiger prawns consisted of around 4 small prawns coated in batter on a wooden skewer with about a teaspoon of sauce and a few lettuce leaves! The main course was the worse I have had for some years! It was cold.My youngest son ordered a burger which he refused to eat because it was cold and there was congealed fat allover it.I am a vegetarian, and ordered a stuffed pepper-and that was all I got-no veg or potatoes or rice to go with it.Just a small, cold red pepper stuffed with a couple of beans and a spoonful of passata which tasted as if it had come straight from the carton! Not wishing to upset my son on his 21st birthday treat, we paid the expensive bill and left.My two eldest sons got a takeaway and went down the local pub, whilst myself, my husband and my youngest son went home to get something to eat! | My girlfriend and I went in for Sunday lunch the other week and the place was packed! Our food was served quickly and was tasty. The service was what impressed us the most however. Our waiter was knowledgable, efficient and was funny! He and the landlord were poking fun at one another. The landlord took the time to come over and introduce himslef and thank us as we were leaving. Thankyou to Phil and the team there! [Report for Removal] | Steve Summertown Oxford |

| The refurbishment is very nice, the seating area both inside and outside is a also a vast improvement - then you order food. My wife and i have eaten here four times and on each occasion we thought it might get better - unfortunately it has got worse. My personal opinion is that the menu is pretentious and poor value for money - charging extra for vegetables is a scam and a nice little earner. But of course before you can get your meal you have to wait and wait and wait. The waitresses do their best but they are mainly young kids - we ate their on monday - the meat in the home made pie was that tough I wouldnt pick a fight with it - the portions border on the nouvelle cuisine. We dont expect Harvester size portions (or prices) just stop taking the p**s. Service at the bar takes an eternity when more than three people need serving and if the food doesnt upset your stomach the schmaltzy greeting by the manager will. If the owners need alesson in good food and service then all they need to do is walk around the corner to the Red Lion. The Cromwells problem may well be in the kitchen but its the owners that put the menu together. Taxi for Gordon Ramsay. [Report for Removal] | Tony northampton northants |

| My husband and I went to The Cromwell Cottage for a meal last Saturday night. We both chose the Steak and Guiness pie. I'd had the forthought to ask the waiter which vegetables were served with it. They needed to be ordered separately as a side order. Both pies had meat which was tough, fatty and full of gristle. I was surprised to hear they are made inhouse, as I'd have expected the chef in charge of the kitchen to make sure all of the food leaving his kitchen was edible. The waiter was extremely apologetic. We were offered drinks, which we refused, and ordered dessert, as we were both still hungry. I've left it a week before writing this review, to give me a chance to calm down.[Report for Removal] | Mrs North Northampton Northants |

| My husband and myself dropped in for Sunday lunch and as there were only two of us we were put at a two seat table. This was right in the way of the people coming and going through the restaurant. We both chose the roast Sunday lunch which we waited well over an hour for. When it came we were very disappointed as we felt that there should have been more vegetables, we were given one small bowl between us. There was just enough of the cauliflower cheese for one as was the same with the other veg. It would also have been nice to have more potatoes i.e. new, other than just the roast. We could not fault the service but left feeling disappointed with the meal.[Report for Removal] | viivian russell northampton northants |
