| We had a lovely experience at The Tollemache Arms, food was tasty and well presented, amazimg selection of wines by the glass - Malbec is to die for! | We were invited by friends to this charming pub only minutes from our door, To say we had over looked this charming pub is our loss. The staff were polite, but not overbearing as is to often the case these days. Whilst we were waiting for other party members we broused the bar menu, which I think had every favourite of mine. The Restaurant Menu was more limited but every dish sounded great. Our party had Pigeon and figs, Crayfish stirfry and Pate as starters which though simple were perfect to get us started. For the main course we were a little dull, I had roast poussin, my wife had Lemon sole and the others in our party had Braised belly pork, I am told it was to Die for and it smelt awsome. We passed on dessert, but what we saw going to other tables seemed to go down well. I would happily recomend this pub to anyone wanting a good meal with friends or family. | I found the Tollemache Arms to be a very charming pub. It had plenty of room and a friendly atmosphere. The restaurant was a good size and felt comfortable, not too squeezed in like some pub restraints. The menu was varied and everything looked good. Certainly enough on the menu to make me want to return to try another dish! The food was well presented, cooked perfectly and served hot with the vegetables on a side dish. The wine, though not my choice, was I’m told very acceptable by a man who knows more about wine than I’d ever want too. The staffs were friendly and helpful without being too attentive. The garden outside is big and great for kids. It also looks onto a great view of fields and Northamptonshire greenery. | The Tollemache Arms is a charming and relaxing 16th century thatched country pub, which in my opinion provides attentive service and excellent quality food and drink at reasonable prices. Inside, the pub has plenty of room in its friendly bar, with an open fireplace adding additional warmth in the winter. The restaurant consists of two good sized rooms, one at either end of the pub, each capable of seating a reasonable number of people without them being cramped. The choices in the menu would cater for most tastes, and certainly my friends all found something to their liking for each course, and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The food was attractively presented, cooked perfectly and served hot with the vegetables on a side dish. The staff were helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. There is an excellent choice of wines, and the prices were reasonable. A good range of real ales are also available, and judging by the cheerful people eating and drinking in this establishment, many of whom were obviously regular visitors, they also thought the Tollemache Arms is an excellent pub and restaurant. We quickly found we could relax and talk without having to raise our voices, which says a lot for the ambiance of this fine old pub. Outside, there is a large car park and an even larger garden facing onto open fields across a gently sloping valley. Sitting in the garden provides a completely unobstructed view across several miles of beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. | We ensured a miserable meal at the Tollemache arms recently. Our main courses took almost one hour to appear (the restaurant wasn't even full) and when they arrived it was an insult to cuisine. The vegetarian dishes was devoid of any taste. The Risotto resembled Batchelor's savoury rice, but overcooked. Another vegetarian dish consisted of a soggy upside-down mushroom with a pile of overcooked mixed vegetables just thrown on top. The Tollemache knot (a sausage dish) was tough, over cooked and served with raw red onion gravy and a lumpy mustard mash. The pheasant was as dry as the sahara desert and showed now cooking skill whatsoever. The one hour wait was probably due to the chef extracting any taste and texture out of the "food" that was presented to us.
