| I visited the Plough Inn some time ago and was pleasantly suprised. It's been taken over by a couple who had the pub a few years ago & have returned. The food is excellant they have their own "signature dishes" & old favourites on the menu - too much to choose from. I went for Sunday Lunch and at £6.95 I couldn't find fault, proper yorkshires not Aunt Bessies!!. They have brought back live entertainment at weekends. They also have started a quiz night on a Thursday of which I am told is not too hard. | I WENT INTO THIS PUB ONE LUNCHTIME A FEW DAYS AGO AND THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE PRETTY BAD. THE BAR MAN KEPT TALKING ON HIS PHONE, AND LEFT ME SITTING WITH MY MEAT AND POTATOES GETTING COLD WHILST HE SERVED ANOTHER CUSTOMER WITH A POT OF TEA. AS THERE WAS ONLY ONE OTHER COUPLE IN THE PUB THIS DID NOT NEED TO HAPPEN. THE TABLE HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED WHEN WE SAT DOWN AND THE FOOD WAS VERY REASONABLE BUT AWFUL. MY MEAT WAS HARD AND DRY AND THE BROCCOLI WAS ACTUALLY ROTTEN IN THE MIDDLE AND SMELLED BAD. I DID MENTION THIS TO THE WAITER AT THE TIME.I WOULD RATHER PAY A LITTLE MORE AND HAVE GOOD FOOD. THIS IS A REAL SHAME AS THIS IS A LOCAL BUSINESS I WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT.APOLOGIES TO THE MANAGER FOR NOT COMPLAINING DIRECTLY, ESPECIALLY IN THESE HARD TIMES, BUT I FELT A REVIEW WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE.[Report for Removal] | ANN BURNOPFIELD DURHAM |
