| The Wee Bush was recently taken over by new owners who have transformed the little pub from a non-descript bar with its former glories long in the past, to a charming place that offers very, very good pub food. We have now eaten there several times and sampled many of the dishes on the menu. While the menu is fairly small it is perfectly formed - there are a few dishes there that you won't find in most other pubs, and everything we have eaten has always been cooked extremely well. Wisely, the new owners have not applied the 'gastro-pub' approach which seems to have engulfed the nation. I think we have had enough of poor quality food at restaurant prices. The Wee Bush offers honest, traditional pub-fare at sensible prices. There are certain dishes which deserve a special mention. I haven't tasted scampi this good for 20 years, and my wife has never eaten a better-tasting steak pie. The T-bone steak is something to behold. The staff and service are also excellent. While there is certainly an informal feel about the place the staff are very friendly and genuinely do whatever they can to make their guests happy. The Wee Bush is as far away as you can get from today's ubiquitous chain pubs whose 'chefs' understand nothing more than how to operate a microwave and serve re-heated rubbish at inflated prices. Of course we're not talking about high-class, fine dining at the Wee Bush, but what we are talking about is great food at pub prices. All food is freshly home-made and cooked with intelligence. On the downside, the bar area is tiny and the range of drinks available is poor. It can also get very hot inside. In warm weather I advise sitting outside in the beer garden. It is shabby out there but at least you won't be eating your foods with beads of sweat dripping down your forehead! If you are planning to dine there at the weekend, book in advance. It gets very busy. Unfortunately it is practically empty during the week so I urge people to support their locals and give it a try. Rather than spending a wet Tuesday night in front of the telly, get down to the Wee Bush and treat yourselves to a great tasting, great value, traditional pub meal! In summary, the Wee Bush is a small local pub that produces very good, well-cooked, freshly-made meals. It is how pub food used to be (and still should be) and I can't recommend it highly enough. Go on, treat yourselves![Report for Removal] | Robin Gower Manchester Greater Manchester |

| The bar is very friendly. You could walk in alone and find someone to talk to. Terry from Emmerdale was in there on the night I stopped to have a drink and a bar snack. [Report for Removal] | ginny lanark south lanarkshire |
