| My Husband and I visited the restaurant on Sat 21.03.09 at 8.30pm. Have not been for quite a few years and had heard it had been taken over so decided to give it a try. Never again! Was very disappointing to say the least. Shown to table in smallish, pokey dining area, really didn't like any of the decor, looked worn and dated, not cosy and traditional as Sister restaurant Chevin Inn. The lighting was all wrong, bland empty walls, awful carpet and curtains that just totally ruined the lovely conservatory windows. No atmosphere whatsoever, tables too close together, just lacking in complete style and ambience!. So not good first impressions but throught maybe the food was exceptional which would maybe make up for everything else that was lacking! However things did not get any better - waited about 20 minutes before we actually got served, both my Starter and Main choice had run out which was really annoying! Ending up choosing Salmon Parcel which basically was piece of smoked salmon rolled up with cream fraiche on bed of basic, undressed lettuce leaves -very, very boring and would take all of 5 mins to prepare! Next came my fish pie which had very little fish in at all and had raw potato topping that had not been mashed properly - was terrible! My Husband had scallops for starter which were lovely and only good part of meal, however salmon main course went down hill, hollandise sauce was curdled and all it came with was asparagus tips!Were not give any option of any extras by waitress and none on menu. We shared a portion of the most bland, tasteless watery veg I've ever had - could spoon the water out on dish! The staff were pleasant enough but seemed stressed, service was not efficient, people seemed to be waiting ages for menus, drinks, food etc. We did complain and they deducted my main course off the bill - We decided against dessert and coffee, one couple got fed up of waiting for their dessert choice to be taken and left! Will never go back again unless it is totally refurbished and I hear good review from someone I trust. Most other people I know who have visited recently are of the same opinion too! Shame because it has got the potential to be a fantastic place to eat due to the amazing position/outlook.
