| went to the swallow inn for my mothers birthday a booking of 17. We booked the prev week. we were told we had to collect a menu, everyone would have to pre-order and a £5.00 deposit per head must be paid. As we were going away for the weekend this proved difficult. In the end they decided they would put a menu in the post to us & said they would accept the deposit on our return. The Swallow inn also phoned us the day after we returned from weekend away to remind us about the deposit! we had to take the menu round to those who were going. Everyone had then to decided what they wanted. we had to phone people who didn't live local & go through the whole menu with them. We then had to phone the whole order through to Swallow. on the evening of the meal we were told at 7.45pm prompt that we had to sit down as he? was getting a bit (the waitress then made up & down movements with her hands don't quite know what she meant assume he? was getting stressed!)Two people were about 5 minutes late as they were working late but we all sat down & had to wait another 20 minutes before we were served! We were told on original booking that we had to pay a deposit & pre-order because it was extremely busy on Friday nights (restaurant was only half full). The food was very good & lots of choice on the 2 for 1 menu but wouldn't recommend this for a big party on a weekend as quite a stressful experience.
