| I, my partner & children have visited the Blacksmith Arms on sereval occasions over the past year or so. We did try to enjoy the england world cup kick off, But to my dismay I wouldnt allow my children inside the building as the men were fighting like animals. Now Halloween 2006 my children dressed up to compete in the fancy dress competition which was advertised on the boards surrounding the pub. I wasnt too happy about going again after the last time but my partner assured me all activities were outside and my girls will be safe. Well me & my 2 daughters spent hours to get ready and they were really excited. When I asked which I believe was to be the land lady, very abrutly said "not tonight love". Well this was just upsetting. Another girl which I think was a member of staff explained to me 'politely' how there wasnt many people in costume so the landlady decided it wasnt nesessary to have the competition. The landlady gave away prizes to what I heard was regulars children. My girls recieved nothing. But to put the icing on the cake, the so called magician which was also advertised turned out to be a clown?? Ok so two terrible experiences, Im never going back again right? Well last friday night, me and the parner decided to head for town but amazingley he managed to convinve me into stopping for a few before hand. All was well, the customers were nice the bar staff could of been more welcoming, they were a little slow and I was unsure if been taught manners as children. But all went hideous again when the landlady came out screen about people with illegal intoxications. Now this was disgusting how her foul mouth exploded to a group of 18 - 21 year olds. Now drugs are not to be tolerated but to speak to customers, infront of the rest of the customers in the unprofessional manner, well Im quiet suprised anyone returns at all! It was my last visit and I hope people considering to attend an event or go for a drink at the Blacksmith Arms realises what they are letting themselfs in for.
