| We visited the Abbey Lodge for lunch after looking round the nearby Tattershall Castle on a wet and cold Monday in March 2010. The first thing we saw on entering was a very welcome roaring coal fire which we took full advantage of to dry out our wet clothes. After getting an excellent pint of hand-pulled Theakstons bitter and a glass of red wine at the bar we sat down at a table in front of the fire and perused the menu and specials board. The food was varied and very reasonably prices.We chose from the board to share a starter of deep-fried goats cheese and then I ordered mushroom ravioli with a 3 cheese sauce and Jenny ordered moussaka, both with a side salad. The food, like the beer, was excellent, piping hot, tasty and very generous portions. The young bar and waiting staff were very friendly and attentive and all in all we could not fault anything.
