| Just wanted to let everyone know that The Peacock has recently been taken over. The atmosphere is really nice and the staff are really professional. They are currently serving a carvery 7 days a week from 12 - 3pm and the food is great! | The service in this otherwise ordinary (though by no means bad) pub is terrible. When presented with three ciders instead of the lager I had ordered, the barman refused to do anything about it, and kept my money which I had foolishly already handed over. The manager intervened, told me the mistake was mine and told me to leave with a less than polite "**** off". Eventually he did give back £5 of my money but kept the rest. Whether the mistake was mine or the barman's (I maintain I had never uttered the word Strongbow), I found it completely unacceptable for a bar manager to adress a customer that way in response to a legitimate complaint.
