| Review written March 2008. I am a Barrovian, living in Hertfordshire. Now named 'The Island Tavern' and completely refurbished (some time ago apparently, although it looks as though it was last week) to a very high standard and is modern and beautiful (I believe it is a 'chain' but I don't know which one). Four of us had a fantastic meal there at the end of March 2008. The quality was absolutely amazing - far beyound what we expected and an excellent portion. The price was more than fair. Come on residents of Walney Island / Barrow-in-Furness / surrounding area, get yourselves over to 'The Island Tavern' Walney Island - you don't know what you are missing. The staff are very good. The Chef (and I mean Chef, not a Cook) came to chat to us. Said he had only been there for seven months having moved from Warrington. It was a very windy / wet, cold night, so things were quiet. To be honest the bad weather was the reason we went - convenient as we were staying on Walney Island - but it turned out to be the best decision we could have made.
