| an awful meal in a nutshell. myself and partner opted for sirloin steak plus a side sause (3.50 extra), sirloin was 13.50. asked for medium rare- came more medium. there were only 3 yes 3 options on the menu as they were 'all out' of everything else. leaving only sirloin steak, mince and onion pie or a range of specials on a saturday night!! the corker was the mains were served with half a mushroom each in the plate menu stated 'served with mushrooms' whivch I had to point out to a rather timid waiter who did not appologise!! bearing in mind you are paying 16 pound a head, you expect more than half a mushroom, 3 onion rings and a badly cooked steak. ruined the evening. the manager is arrogant and when he came to collect out plates, gestured to one of the family members to actually pass it to him- it was a compete joke and I was very angry. bonus for the free mince pie heated in the microwave which crumbled in my hand and completely burnt my fingers. dont dine in this place!![Report for Removal] | birchall and taylor, ulverston ulverston cumbria |

| I had a meal on July 29th this year, and cannot praise it enough. I had Steak, Ale and Mushroom Pie and it was beautiful, it came in an individual dish, the pastry was crisp, not soggy, the meat was succulent, and incledible value at less than £7.50. I had the salad instead of vegetables and they give you such a variety! 2 kinds of lettuce, grated carrot, tomato, cucumber, 2 slices of pepper, spring onion, grated cheese, coleslaw: fantastic. My only gripe was I'd asked for mash and I got chips, but they remembered and brought me a separate dish of mash and apologised for the mistake. | Normally quite good with a nice selection of real ales since the new owners took over, which is why I haven't given it a really bad rating. But some of the bar staff seriously need training. Pint tasted like vinegar, my father had the same and agreed. Barman insisted that it was ok, even though he freely admitted he *doesn't drink* and refused to try it!! The reasoning? Some bikers were already drinking it and didn't complain. Not being one to walk out when I'm thirsty, I ordered us another couple of pints of a different ale (at OUR expense, as he stuck to his guns and refused to admit defeat) and left that one. The bikers came back for more and we decided to stay silent and see what happens. Sure enough "pleh! that's off mate!" - but instead of seeing sense, the barman did the same thing, insisting that if it's the same barrel it can't possibly have gone bad in the space of 30 minutes. Clearly he doesn't quite grasp the concept of live beer, or customer service (we pop in now and again, and the bikers are regulars. What's better, pouring a couple of pints down the drain, or losing a group of regular customers? | took my family for a meal, was disguting. all four plates returned to kitchen almost as full as how they left it! cant do a salad without piling unknown purple stuff on and cant cook a steak! beer was'nt much cop either decidednot to bother with desert as we did'nt wan't to wasye any more money. 60 quid well wasted!!![Report for Removal] | mr sutcliffe ulverston cumbria |
