Had lunch on 29 December 2011. Very disappointing. Soup came with a stale piece of sliced bread. Waited for an hour for the main courses only then to be told that one course was not available. Food eventually appeared after a wait of 100 minutes. It is not cheap to eat here either. We will never return.[Report for Removal] Keith Ridyard

We are frequent visitors to the Firecrest and we enjoy it every time. We were there this Sunday just gone for our mothers 50th and we had a lovely time. 3 of us had the roast lamb and the other 3 had a thai fish special which was absolutely bursting with colour and flavour. We sat in the garden as it was nice and we had a fantastic visit. The waitress that dealt with us (the bar manager I think) was really helpful and kept us topped up with plentiful supply of the adnams ale on offer. we will be back in a couple of weeks as we have friends over. Its right by wendover woods which is a great walk to work up your appetite. [Report for Removal] kenny bruce

A beautiful pub, with a lovely beer garden. We went on a warm Sunday evening for a meal and sat outside. Sadly the service was not so greeat. We decided to eat at about 6.30pm. The food took a long time to come which we didn't mind because it was a nice evening but when it did come they had forgotten half so two ate and the other two waited. The main courses from the menu were OK but myself and my partner choose the Roast Dinners. The food for my roast dinner was under par. I sent it back once as the veg looked hours old but the potatoes were burnt and soaking in fat and the meat what little there was was all fat. I was told by the manager on duty that in fairness they had been very busy which is why the quality of the food was so bad. I was eating with friends so did not wish to make a scene at the end of the evening and it seemed that the servers ignored us after this point anyway. So we dispensed with the deserts and coffees and left. I've been to several vintage inns and each time they have delivered good food at a good price - This seems to be a weak link in the chain as it were. If you are driving by - stop in for a drink and if its a hot day sit outside in the garden. But given the Roast a miss there seems to be a lack of care about the quality. In balance the other menu items looked ok.The Suop and prawns were reasonable. Very disappointing from a chain that does well. [Report for Removal] Michael Bolton
