I have just read Penny;s review and beg to differ, If you're a foodie try the Kings Head pub just a few hundred yards down the road, the food is outstanding and the staff really friendly. Unlike the Polecat Inn. We had a recommendation to visit there and arrived today at approx 10 past 2 only to find out they stop serving food at 2pm, which is fine, but the attitude of the older lady behind the bar when she told us this was awful. She was checking with the kitchen as we were not the only party that wanted lunch at this time. We were told we can only do sandwiches (FROM £4.10 for cheese!) but could only have brown bread which I have an allergy to. This obviously suits the geriatric clientelle that were dining today! We all felt very uncomfortable to dare to ask for lunch! Although I didn't sample the food I actually wouldn't return because of the staff attitude, I believe if you work in a service industry, your aim shouldn't be to make the customer feel bad. This is a popular pub and the only foodie pub in prestwood. It has a large garden and extensive menu, however... We have been a few times now and always feel they have over stretched themselves. Last time it was dry overcooked fish, without the sauce it was supposed to have, overcooked duck with a sickly sauce, off prawns and stale profitteroles. It was the 5th or 6th hot day on the trot and maybe they couldn't keep up, but this has happened several times. Go for the garden, but DON'T go for the food, at least not if you are a foodie!![Report for Removal] Penny
