| It`s a damned shame to be reading such bad revues of the Royal Oak. It would appear that the landlord simply has no idea of what he should be doing. The Royal Oak was the first pub I ever worked in, way back in 1988. The landlord couple at the time were David and Angela Tucker who made the pub the flagship of the company. They were both great people and I learnt a hell of a lot from them which helped me in my future career in the business. By the way, does anybody know where they are now ? | Awful. Food was stale, clearly reheated frozen rubbish. You could do better for under a quid from your supermarket. Service was awful too, with some of the blokes being downright rude to the customers. In one case, one was told she was being frivalous when, and that "they shouldn't be expected to check the salad is clean before it goes out". They even refused her the number for the head office to complain. No frame or kid's entertainment either and slow service so be prepared to have bored kids. | Nice and friendly atmosphere with nice area out the back in the summer. Food was good very good. If I am ever back in the area I will certainly try and stop for at least a pint.
