| I have to agree with the previous review & say that I am also totally astounded by Iain Watson's experience. I have eaten in this pub many, many times and have never experienced anything remotely similar - all the staff have always been extremely polite, helpful and courteous. The food is always terrific and the ales well kept. I can only think that the first reviewer has reviewed the wrong pub??[Report for Removal] | Arfur Headley Down Hampshire |

| I'm astounded at the previous review from Iain Davis and I have to say that this all sounds completely out of character. It is a small pub and a party of 20 people would take up much of the restaurant area however in all the times I've been in there, I've never known the landlord and staff to be anything other than courteous. Probably by virtue of it's location, it is pricey but the food is always excellent with an interesting menu and the beer (normally Spitfire, Pride and a guest bitter) is well kept. Parking can be a hassle on a sunny weekend and the bar area can get rather cosy when the locals and walkers get in there, but there is a little garden the other side of the road for the those longed-for summer evenings. The only problem is that the pub opens straight on to the road which, although a little country lane, can get lorries and 4x4s passing through which will take your toes off when you sneak out for a crafty smoke.[Report for Removal] | The Lipsiot Guildford Surrey |

| would never go to this pub again and would strongly urge others not to. It a was truely horrible experience. We were a table booked for 20, unfortunately due to an accident on the M1 motorway, 4 of our party were dealyed and hence only 16 ate. It was a family occassion, with aunts and grandparents there. The landlord went ballistic that there were only 16 of us, though we explained the situation. He was totally revolting and very aggrssive towards us. As the evening went on he began to get more and more angry (possibly due to the more he drank but that is pure conjecture on my part)and culminated in him slamming our change down on our table, saying we were barred and then literally shoving my elderly father out of the door. This is after our party had spent the best part of 4 hours in there and spent well over £500! The only positive thing to say was that the bar staff were very friendly, just a shame about the landlord. People like that should not be allowed to run pubs. Disgusting![Report for Removal] | iain Davis london london |
