| Well, I had tried to book a table for a number of weeks and finally managed to get a table last Friday evening. I was so pleased as to me it was something I had wanted to do for quite some time and take out my partner for a wonderful evening. Very dissapointed. The food was of very poor quality and also not worth what was charged. Garlic bread was under cooked and just like uncooked dough. The oil and balsamic vinegar was overloaded with oil and couldnt get to the balsamic vinegar. The chicken in bacon was a bit let down. The bacon was not even cooked and was sent back. On its return it was still under cooked. I left it. If you want a nice meal out, then dont go here, try anywhere else.[Report for Removal] | John alton hants |

| I have given the pub a mark of fairly good because I have been to a number of pubs that are worthy of better scores. However, I really loved the setting, amidst a really lovely landscape, I was very impressed by the level of service and the personal touch added by regular visits by the landlady to see if we were O.K or needed anything else. I chose baked avocado as I am a vegetarian and everyone else had a christmas roast dinner, which looked lovely. I didnt really enjoy my lunch that much as it was a bit too rich, but think that was more a question of my taste not that it was badly cooked. Most importantly I loved the atmosphere I will definitely go back, tomorrow in fact with some other friends as it was so Christmassy and welcoming. It is definitely somewhere I would recommend to go in this area. [Report for Removal] | Jinny Elsworth London London |

| Had an excellent Christmas dinner here Dec 2007, but another visit a week or so ago the food not very good. Scampi provencal, on the board as a special,(which I understand to be scampi in fresh tomatoes, white wine and garlic) was served in a kind of thick dark gravy with little scampi to be found. Another patron also commented the same. My husband chose a pie. The meat was not tender and with pastry lid looked mass produced. Having said that, if you are going for a drink the pub is very nice with log fires. Same about the food though. [Report for Removal] | sylvia Camberley Surrey |

| The mature lady who organises tables does you a favour when she spends ten minutes finding one for you although the place is half empty. Food is mundane but its a fantastic looking old pub. Waitreses were good at their jobs.[Report for Removal] | Anne Aldershot Hampshire |
