| Well worth advoiding 21 june 2008 Arrived at the Royal Oak and was suprised to find it empty in the restaurant albeit for 1 table. Menu looked good so we decided to stay. Starters arrived and were as expected. We all had gammon as a main course. Well the gammon was ok but the chips...I think there was more oil inside the chips than they had in thier fryers. Also my wife wanted an egg with her gammon and it arrived rock hard..so she asaked for a soft egg which the waitress was happy to do. We finished the meal after about 20 mins and she came to clear the plates. Asked where the egg had got too she proudly said that it was in the kitchen waiting to be served. Sweets... menu looked good so we opted for 2 profriterols and 2 apple crumbles. Well if you want dissapointment and something to laugh about you must try thier apple crumble...or was it apple crumble!! a dish with cinnomon apple pie filling covered in a thing that all I can describe as a rock cake. I think the chef went overboard with the microwave abd is arrived as a solid rubbery mass. Both the apple crumbles were returned. When paying for the bills the owner was not at all concerned about our complaints, insisting that they serve great food and have never had a complaint. He also lied to us about not knowing about our issues, the Iwe did hear the waitress telling him about the mains and desserts and she also told us she had passed on our issues.
