| we were hoping to have a 24th birthday celbration meal at the Mitre Oak as we have done many times in the past but this year we were challenge over the age of the lad whose birthday we were celebrating. I understand that the challenge 21 rule is in place but no way did neil look uder 21 and definatly not under 18 which is the legal age for alcohol consumpsion. we waited for over 20mins to be asked for our drink order and then being told they would not serve neil even though he was with his family and god parents also a regular in the Mitre oak who was his uncle. we felt obliged to leave losing them custom and a lot of repeat business. i recomend that this be a public house (sorry only the older pulic can use this) that only those with definate old looking features dine there. we were diapointed as we were told that they had a new menu and the food was good. but the Honeybee had our family that night.
