| Revisited the Running Horse today 9th Nov 11 at lunchtime. The staff greeted you in a warm and friendly manner, showed us to a table and returned very soon to take our order. Food was excellent and good value. Our table waiter was attentive and returned during our meal to enquire if all was ok. The new menu looked interesting and appeared to offer good value for money. | Revisited this restaurant 16/04/09 after driving past and seeing an "under new management" board outside. Same bar and waiting staff as before but it would appear that the previous chef has been fired or given a kick up the backside. Food was good and warm and we didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive at the table. Well done, credit were credit is due, this place has returned to a decent place to eat again. | Visited this restaurant on 6th feb 09. Ordered prawn cocktails, 1 fish and chips and 1 chicken in mozzarella. Prawn cocktails arrived with bread and rock hard butter. How are people supposed to spread hard butter? Fish and chips were only just warm, obviously been plated up and left to await the chicken dinner. Veg with the chicken were boiled potatoes which were black in the centre and carrots as hard as bullets. When the waiter enquired if the meal was ok, told him about the fish and chips and he said he would inform the kitchen and then promptly walked away in the opposite direction of the kitchen. Did he inform the kitchen? I very much doubt it. As we were leaving another diner was complaining that his meal was inedible. This is the second time in recent weeks that we have had rubbish meals in this restaurant so will not be going there again and I certainley would not recommend it to anyone. This was a good restaurant and has now hit the buffers, the chef has obviously no interest or pride in the meals he is serving and there is a complete absence in the restaurant or bar of anyone who appears to be a manager. Half the restaurant was corderned off, presumuably to save costs by employing less staff.
