| We spent the weekend with my children and grandchildren in Milborne Port to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We booked a meal for 13 on the Saturday evening at the Queens Head. They gave us a private room and arranged a long table to accommodate us all. Excellent food was promptly provided at reasonable prices from a wide-ranging menu. | Visited The Queens Head, Milborne Port, Dorset on Saturday 23rd March 2008. Very excited at the menu, lots of unusual dishes to choose from. We were a pary of six (three couples). We arrived reasonably early (7.40pm) after reserving a table and ordered drinks whilst deciding on our courses. The Bar man (Landlord)not a good conversationist but everyone has their bad days. We placed our order with the very sullen waitress. Starters arrived which were lovely (although nothing freshly prepared) Freezer garlic bagette/ freezer filo prawns/ freezer breaded mushrooms. Our main course arrived within five minutes of our starter plates being cleared. The food looked delicious, however on cutting into the New Yorker Burger the entire burger was red (not pink) RED. It appeared to have been flipped either side in the pan and served!!! We took the entire meal to find the waitress and requested a replacement meal of a steak sandwich, the waitress returned to ask how i would like the steak, i replied medium. A few minutes later, a very large, aggresive man (presume the chef) appeared in the doorway and shouted across the other table of diners at me "did you ask for medium steak?" i replied yes please, "but you sent back a medium burger" i replied, you can't expect me to eat an uncooked burge?, "so you'll eat a medium steak but not a medium burger?" Shook his head at me and stomped off. I hope that i'm not alone in refusing to eat a red, uncooked burger? Had i not have been so shocked at the lack of customer service and humiliation at being shouted to over a dining room i would have politely asked the 'chef' to join us for supper and ask him to eat it himself. Not at any point from waitress to chef to landlord was i offered a simple sorry, the Landlord kindly took the burger off the bill and put the steak sandwich on (but didn't make us pay the 30p difference! Thank you!) All it would have taken was for the waitress to have said "i'm sorry, you'll new order will be with you as soon as possible". | Try the daily Special Curry. Plenty to choose from on the menu. Staff very helpful and friendly. The pub has a real log fire (logs supplied by Westree sawmills Westree Sawmills )and a welcoming atmosphere. [Report for Removal] | Barb Dwyer Shaftesbury Dorset |
