| Having been to this Pub several times over the last couple of years, previously the standard was excellent and was almost in the 'fine dining' category. I noticed that the menu had changed drastically since my last time there, and had turned into regular pub grub, however at top end prices. The starters were from a very poor choice, my wife's prawn cocktail being like something out of the sixties, but at £5.95. We ordered 2 Lincolnshire Red fillet steaks @£17.95 each, my wife having a pepper sauce an additional £2.95? The steaks were absolutely tasteless. The thick cut chips served were absolutely disgusting. They were uncooked in the middle, but tasted like they had been sitting in a vat of dirty oil for weeks. It was inedible, so we sent them both back. The meals came out again and were not freshly cooked, but our part started meals reheated with questionably 'new' chips. They were exactly the same as before, inedible. We paid for our starters and drinks, and left hungry. I asked the chap behind the bar if a new chef was there, he confirmed that there was which may explain everything. This place was my last bastion of good food since I moved to Lincolnshire, and that was destroyed last Friday. There are so few decent restaurants in the county, that places like this momopolise a captive audience. It charges double London prices for substandard food as competition is lacking in Lincs, unlike London. | Ecxellent menu - far more than average bar food. There are often creative dishes with seasonal produce. Also uses local produce. The standard of the dishes is very good and whilst they aren't cheap you get what you pay for. a couple can have 3 courses with drinks for average of £55.00[Report for Removal] | Clare Scunthope N.Lincs |
