| I visited the Castle & Falcon for the first time in a number of years recently. The dark & dingy pub that I remembered is nothing like what greeted me. I found a clean, bright pub with a friendly atmosphere. I found myself ending up talking to the landlord and landlady as well as a number of the customers and found the welcome warm and friendly. Since that first visit I've made a point of popping in whenever I am going into Derby, and have never been disappointed. The food is lovely with good portions - I had the all day breakfast and my friend had the scampi and both were excellent. The best time I've been there has been a Friday afternoon with live music where the atmosphere was brilliant. All in all I've found I've had to put aside my preconceptions of what used to be a pub I'd avoid as the place has well and truly won me over!
