| I noticed that this pub is now advertising a new landlord, it was a new landlord that we spoke too shortly after our holiday at the time of our complaint which involved scamming monies. He did promise to reinburst us but never has. It seems now they make light of the situation. | HOLIDAY MAKERS BEWARE. While on a canal boating vacation I took my family to the Jolly Tar for an evening meal, the food was good and the people appeared friendly, but when it was time to pay I attempted to pay with debt card and was told after I had put in my pin number that there was a problem with the machine and it was not connecting, they then told me I would have to pay by cash, my elderly father who was on holiday with us obliged as he was the only one with cash at the time. On my return home I found from my bank statements that the debt transaction had gone through and ineffect I had been charged twice, we telephoned the pub on two occasions and was told that a cheque would be in the post, needless to say it has never arrived. after speaking to some publician friends of ours it seems that this pub is running a very profitable SCAM. | You may or may not like the look of this pub from the outside but ignore that. We received the warmest welcome that we've had in a pub for a long time and the food was hot, excellent and served promptly. Nice pint of Theakstons Mild.
